The Vicks

From top left to bottom right:

My son Darren, my mother Marilyn, my wife Cheryl, my mother-in-law Joyce Lee, my father Duane, Me!, and my son Duane.

Our sons built us this nice firepit on the property. It has been a great place for friends to gather and we've had some tremendous evenings here!
                          Thanks Guys!

Our Montana log home is located in Sula about 35 miles south of Hamilton. We are just 18.5 miles north of the continental divide and Idaho/Montana border. We sit between two large mountain ranges, the Sapphires, and the Bitterroots.

Montana is the 4th largest state in the U.S.
Sula has approximately 250 registered voters..
.

The Bitterroot River runs in front of the house and is the headwaters for rivers flowing all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Both of us are wild about flyfishing, and we spend a lot of time here when we aren't selling real estate. The river is home to many species of trout. Rainbows, Cutthroats, Browns, Brook, and Bull trout are all present along with Mountain Whitefish. All fish are natives. No stocking is needed here!

Here's my wife Cheryl with a nice Montana antelope. We call them "Speed-Goats"  as they sure can run! They also have the best eyesight of any of the big-game animals, so long shots are the rule rather than the exception. Cheryl harvested  this one at 350 yards.

Deer, Elk, Moose, Bear, Mountain Lion, Bighorn Sheep, and Mountain Goats are also frequent visitors. Our area borders the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness, one of the largest wilderness areas in the lower 48 states.

This years Mule Deer Buck harvested about half a mile from our home on the second day of archery season at 32 yards.

Due to the challenge involved in archery hunting, Montana is generous with the archery season. This years spanned about a month and a half prior to rifle season. Whitetail doe hunting, due to their high populations, can be done with a bow up until January 15th. This year two does were allowed in addition to a buck.

Cheryl Harvested This Nice Montana Jackalope Near Our Sula Home. Taken at 37 Yards With Her New Bow, A Mathew's Conquest Pro, Shooting Easton 2016 Arrows,  With Muzzy "Bad To The Bone" Broadheads...

Scoring 75 1/2 Points, This Fine Trophy Easily Made The Much Sought After Pope & Young Club's Record Book As One Of The Largest Jackalopes Ever Taken With A Bow.

Of Course This Meant Another Trip To The Taxidermist, Who Did A Fine Job Mounting Him As You Can See Below

The ancient art of archery is alive and well in the Bitterroot. Many people take advantage of the very generous bowhunting season here for big game species. Others are perfectly happy plunking arrows at plastic and foam big game animals in competition with each other.  Be sure to visit my Hunting & Fishing page for photos of the recent 7th Annual Beers, Bows, & Barbecue!

Congratulations Cheryl!
